THREE RIVERS ROMP HOME AT COLNE VALLEY

On a pleasant Autumn day, Three Rivers and Maylands met at Colne Valley in the final of the Harris Bowl.  Both teams had played really well to reach the final, and credit to both teams as they have relatively small ladies sections.

As the teams went to the first tee, Colne Valley was suddenly a sea of purple as almost the entire ladies section from Maylands arrived, sporting their new team colours and cheering on their ladies.  The match was nip and tuck at halfway, with Maylands up in the first, Three Rivers up in the second, the next two were all square and the last match, 2 up to Three Rivers.  The first two games ended early, with a win to each team.  The action then moved to the 15th hole, where Three Rivers were up in game three and Maylands took the lead in game four.  Three Rivers won on the next hole, giving them two games, and we all moved to the seventeenth to watch match four which was looking like a win for Maylands, but behind us, in the last game, Three Rivers won the 16th hole to give them the match.

It was a close final, played in great spirit and well done to Three Rivers on their fine win, and well done to Maylands on reaching their first ever final. Colne Valley was an excellent host, the course in good condition, so a great day all round.
