WINDFALL TROPHY 3RD OCTOBER 2023

The Windfall Trophy was first played in 1999 and as the name suggests the Windfall Trophy came about a following of a ‘windfall’ the ELCGA received from the Halifax Building Society in the late 1990’s as a result of changing from a building society to a bank.  The windfall was substantial and the beautiful trophy was commissioned and created by a local silversmith.

Five Lakes GC hosted the competition this year on a crisp and sunny Autumn morning and the course was in fabulous condition and many thanks to the ladies from the club who helped throughout the day and all the Five Lakes staff for their assistance running the day.

Thirty-seven ladies represented their clubs from across the County.  This years’ winner of the Windfall Trophy was Carol Penny from the Rayleigh Club with 37 points and runner up Claire Cosgrove from Colne Valley with 35 points.  Fantastic scores as the windy conditions were reportedly quite challenging.

Winner Carol Penny with Nicola Thomas

Well done to the winners of this competition and to all ladies who qualified for the final and thanks to Nicola Thomas (President) for presenting this wonderful trophy and Josie Williams for giving her time as Rules Official.
