GIRLS COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

In what was otherwise a week full of sunshine, the heavens opened and Theydon Bois Golf Course along with our resilient  players were thoroughly soaked during the first round.

The rain showed no mercy and shortly into the second round, despite the best preparation by the Greenkeepers, play had to be suspended then abandoned due to the flooding in some places and the Course becoming unplayable.

None the less there were some good scores recorded in what were very trying conditions.

 The Essex Girls Champion for 2021 is Amy Knotts from Chigwell GC with a gross score of 82 narrowly beating Ciara Rushmer from Boyce Hill GC by 1 shot.

Elle Redgewell from Orsett GC followed closely on their heels with a score of 84.

The under 15's girls Champion is Megan Dawson from Chelmsford GC after coming in with a score of 92.

The prize for the best nett score of 77 went to 12 year old Lily Frost also from Chelmsford GC.

This Competition was followed by the girls playing in the Handicap Competition when Chelmsford GC provided another prize winner, Daisy Littlebury who won with 31 points. Another good score in the testing conditions.

We would like to thank Theydon Bois GC for allowing us to host the event there and their staff for looking after us so well. Also a massive thank you to The Society of Lady Captains of Essex (Past and Present) for their generous sponsorship of this event.
