ESSEX SENIOR LADIES WIN EAST REGION WOMENS' SENIOR LEAGUE

The East Region Womens' Senior League 2023 came down to the final match of the season with Suffolk hosting Norfolk at Ipswich GC on the 19th October.

Essex had finished all their matches, winning against Suffolk @ Ipswich GC  and Cambs and Hunts @ Chigwell GC and drawing against Norfolk @ Royal Norwich GC and Hertfordhsire @ Chigwell GC. With a total of 6 match points and 13 games won for Essex, Suffolk needed a win against Norfolk by 4.5 games to 1.5 to draw, or by 5 -1 games to win the league outright. Suffolk did secure a win but fortunately for Essex it was by 3.5 - 2.5 games leaving Essex to win the League by a very fine margin of .5 of a game. It's a great result for Essex who would have been equally happy to have shared the league with Suffolk.

Throughout the season all matches were played in a competitive, friendly and generous spirit, at some lovely golf courses with the final result reflecting the high standard of golf played by all the different Counties.

Thanks must go to Chigwell GC, for hosting the home games for Essex, and to Ipswich and Royal Norwich golf clubs for their hospitality at our away matches.

Finally to all the squad members throughout the season for their commitment to travel, good humour and good golf.
