INTER COUNTY. - DAY 1

Inter-County Match Days kicked off with Essex -v- Cambs&Hunts. The first two matches were foursomes with Ciara Rushmer and Alex Sparrow in the first match and Erin Earl and Sophie Caldon in the second.  Harriet Lynch, Elle Redgewell and Megan Henry folllowed up in the three singles matches. It was not long before the rain started and the umbrellas went up.  The Essex girls were on great form and took the match 5 - 0!  Ciara & Alex 7&6, Erin  & Sophie 6&5, Harriet 5&4, Elle Redgewell 8&6 and Megan 1up. 

By lunch time the course was showing signs of water logging with some of the tees being very wet and bunkers filling up.  Fortunately the greens where holding up well. 

The afternoon players were Ciara & Alex,  Katy Yates, (Essex County Champion) and Charley Hatley and Megan, Sophie and Harriet in the singles.  The rain continued throughout the afternoon and following a torrential downpour about 4 o’clock play was suspended until 8.00 Saturday. At this time Ciara & Alex had lost their match, Katy and Charley had won and we were up on two matches and down in one.

Play will resume on Saturday with the remaining matches being completed and Saturday’s matches starting as soon as possible!
