On Monday the 29th September, the current ELCGA committee, together with past and present Presidents and Captains and those who have helped ELCGA over the years all came together to play golf at East Herts Golf Club. Miraculously, the weather was absolutely perfect, warm sunny and dry and the course was in great condition. It was the first time many had played there which was a challenge in itself, but even so, the scores were impressive. The county captain had organised the day and decided that fourball betterball was a good idea, but then paired the lowest handicapper with the highest handicapper, an interesting concept which actually worked really well.
The winners on the day with an impressive 38 points were Seniors Captain Julie Finegan and referee Sandra Goff. Second place went to our Scots duo of Janice Hazledine and Lorna Curran with 36 points and in third place on countback June Morgan and Lesley Hitchcock with 35 points.
After the golf, we were joined by non-golfing ladies where we celebrated together over dinner to mark the end of the era of Essex Ladies County Golf Association and all that it has meant not only to those who served on committee but also to all our affiliated members. We all now look forward to becoming Essex Golf Ltd and continuing to thrive as a successful unified county.
