THORNDON PART WIN THE BRONZE SHIELD

The Thorndon Park Bronze Shield Team.

Thorndon Park met Upminster in the Bronze Shield Final at Crondon Park on a perfect golfing day.  Both teams were well supported but special mention must go to the Upminster Ladies' Section who turned out in huge numbers!  The teams were very well matched and at halfway the result could have gone either way with the first 2 games at all square, the third game 1 up to Thorndon Park and the final two games 3 up, but one each to Thorndon and Upminster.  However, on the back nine, Thorndon Park managed to take control of the first two games and eventually came through as worthy winners by 4 games to 1.  All the games were played in a great spirit and everyone enjoyed the day.

Many thanks go to David Laffar and Debbie Mead and their teams at Crondon Park for being such great hosts and for providing such a delicious afternoon tea.  Thanks also to the Crondon Park ladies for their help on the day and for providing a very welcome halfway house.  Finally I must also thank Len Alliston and his team of referees and our County President, Nicola and our County Vice Captain Elaine for giving up their time to be there.
