ESSEX COUNTY CHAMPIONSHPS

The Essex Ladies and Seniors Championship started Friday 12th May at 8.00am with the current Champion Katy Yates leading the first round of the Championship players out.  They were followed by the current Seniors Champion Gill Haysham leading the the Seniors players out at 9.28am.  The weather started out dry and windy, however deteriorated through the day with the temperature dropping.  After 18 holes Alex Sparrow from Stoke by Nayland was leading with a gross 72 and was still leading after the second 18 holes with a gross 154.  For the Seniors after playing their 18 holes Gill Haysham from Chelmsford lead with a gross 87.  The first round of the matchplay side of the competition begins on Saturday with another 8.00am start for the Championship and 9.12am for the Seniors.
