CHAMPIONSHIP

The Players in the first round of the Essex Ladies' and Seniors' Championship need to be congratulated on completing 36 and 18 holes in terrible conditions.  The wind speed gradually increased during the day and the Seniors were grateful that they only had to play 18 holes and not go out for an afternoon round as the rain also decided to start.  At one stage our referees were worried that the second round might not be able to be completed if conditions deteriorated.  All the results are on the website and the draw for the matchplay side is also there although the times are not shown.  Play commences again for the players at 8.00am in the morning for the last 16 Championship players and the quarter finals for the Seniors.  The quarter final for the Championship will be played tomorrow afternoon.
