JUNIOR GIRLS' MOST IMPROVED GOLFER 2018

JUNIOR GIRLS' MOST IMPROVED GOLFER 2018

The calculation for the ‘Most Improved’ player is by a points system for each shot they reduce over the year.   This seems a fair way to calculate as it obviously gets harder to reduce the lower you get.

We congratulate all the girls for continuing to participate at a competitive level, especially those that have also had an important exam year.

 Notable reductions were:

  • Ciara Rushmer (Langdon Hills) reduced from 22.7 to  12.3
  • Erin Earl (Little Channels) reduced from 20.4 to 11.3
  • Alanna Matthews (The Warren) reduced from 32.3 to 18.8
  • Millie Penfold  (Thorpe Hall)  reduced from  14.7 to 9.0
  • Maura Burns Zaragoza (Chigwell) reduced from 12.5 to 7.6
  • Charley Hatley (Colchester) reduced from 9.0 to 5.7

but the Most Improved Player for 2018 is

Jodie Bodimeade (Langdon Hills) who reduced her handicap from 27.0 to 13.9

Jodie started the year at the County’s Beginners Coaching Group with Sarah Bennett at Three Rivers Golf Club and has been selected to progress to the County’s Coaching Group at Abridge next year.  She has played regularly in cadet competitions at her home club Langdon Hills, the U14 Essex County Golf Tour and British Junior Girls meetings, as well as Essex Girls’ events.

Most recently she won the afternoon Handicap Prize with a net 69 at the East Region Ladies 36 hole Championship held at Gosfield Lake Golf Club.  Jodie was unable to play in the Girls’ Autumn Meeting due to recently having been hit by a golf ball on her arm, but she joined the rest of the girls for the meal and prize giving.  Congratulations Jodie!
