Georgina Blackburn (Chelmsford) and Lily May Humphreys (Stoke by Nayland) represented England in the recent match against Spain played at Formby Golf Club, Liverpool on the 27th/28th April. The match played in the most challenging of conditions with winds gusting around 50mph. The weather meant that the Saturday morning singles were abandoned, but the teams managed to play one session of foursomes in the afternoon.
Georgina and Lily May were paired together in the foursomes and took their match 2&1 beating the Spain pair Carla Tejedo and Marta Garcia and contributing to England's 3-2 lead at the end of the first day.
Paired together again in the Sunday morning Foursomes they lost 2&1 to Carla Tejedo paired this time with Nieves Martin. Other matches went England's way and the team were 7-3 up at the end the Sunday morning session, leaving the team needing just 3.5 points from the afternoon singles session. Lily May had a comfortable 5&3 win over Oihana Etxezarreta. Georgina had more of a fight on her hands and went down 3&1 against Nieves Martin.
Overall the England team were fantastic retaining the Seve Ballesteros Trophy by 13-7.
